Basil Pakeman, M.D., F.R.C.S. is the medical director of Manhattan Surgical Eye Care. He specializes in cosmetic oculofacial surgery and comprehensive ophthalmology. An innovator and mentor of minimally-invasive and non-invasive approaches to facial rejuvenation, he utilizes only the most sophisticated equipment, techniques and meticulous attention to details (before, during and after), allowing him to consistently provide his patients with remarkable results. His lifelong commitment to ophthalmic and cosmetic oculofacial surgery, combined with his precision, skill and artistry, have defined him as an accomplished surgeon to his colleagues, patients and the medical community.
Dr. Pakeman is double board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Canada). He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery. He has lectured internationally and has published scientific articles in major medical journals. He serves on staff at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Pakeman received his medical doctorate from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1992 after completing his undergraduate education at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY. His post-doctoral training included an internship at Saint Vincent Hospital in New York City, an Ophthalmology residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital, and an Oculoplastics externship at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada.
