Microdermabrasion

Conveniently located to serve New York City

Microdermabrasion is a fast, non-surgical procedure that can rejuvenate and refresh your skin by softening certain types of skin damage and flaws. Using a gentle exfoliating process, our cosmetic professionals safely remove the outer layer of dead skin cells to treat scarring, sun damage, and other skin conditions. To find out if our microdermabrasion treatment or other skincare services in is right for you, please call Manhattan Surgical Care in New York at 212-308-1566.

What does Microdermabrasion treat?

Microdermabrasion is a skin care procedure that effectively softens or eliminates the appearance of:

  • Sun damage
  • Age spots
  • Light scarring
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarges pores

A gentle stream of tiny particles is used to exfoliate the outer layer of skin, creating a glowing, refreshed, youthful appearance. These microparticles scrape away the surface of aging or damaged skin, which is then suctioned away with a gentle vacuum tool without the need for anesthesia. Because only the outer surface of skin cells are removed, sensitive areas like the face, chest, neck, arms and hands can be treated.

Results are similar to those of a light chemical peel and should be immediately visible. Microdermabrasion is frequently performed with other skin renewal procedures like laser treatment and chemical peels. We usually recommend multiple treatments for effective results.

The Microdermabrasion Procedure

Microdermabrasion is a simple, painless, nonsurgical skin rejuvenation treatment. Features of a typical treatment include:

  • The procedure takes approximately one hour.
  • The skin may be slightly pink immediately afterward, and you may notice a mild, temporary wind chapped sensation.
  • No recovery time is required, and most patients return to daily activities immediately after treatment.
  • Because the skin is more sensitive to sun exposure, a sunscreen of SPF 50 or higher is required for the first two weeks following treatment.

To achieve optimal results, we may recommend you return for follow up treatments over the course of a few weeks. The results of microdermabrasion are long-lasting, though not permanent. Future treatments will be needed if you want to maintain the results.

Good Candidates for Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion can help significantly improve your appearance by exfoliating and removing the damaged, outer layer of skin. It’s a chemical-free and non-invasive way to improve the look of one’s skin. Good candidates for the treatment have fine lines on the face, pigmented or raised scars, and clogged pores. We can help determine if the treatment is a good option for you during a consultation.

How Much Does Microdermabrasion Cost?

Microdermabrasion is fully customized to address the needs of each individual patient. The cost of the treatment depends on the degree of correction required and the number of treatment sessions needed to achieve the best results. Our skilled team of cosmetic professionals will perform an analysis of your skin and develop the best treatment plan for you. We will discuss the associated cost of the treatment and the payment options available to you.
